What is Safeguarding in Sports
“Endless effort to ensure athletes practice sport in a safe and healthy sporting environment, free from any possible abuse or harassment”

01
Non accidental Violence (NAV)
The cultural context of harassment and abuse is rooted in discrimination based on power differentials across a range of social and personal factors.
NAV is consisted with 4 different forms including psychological abuse, neglect, physical violence, and sexual violence.
Perpetrators use a range of interpersonal mechanisms including contact, non-contact/verbal, cyber-based, negligence, bullying and hazing.
02
Impact of Non accidental Violence
NAV has serious negative impacts on athletes' physical, social and psychological health which can be long term and extremely damaging.
In a highly empathic sporting environment, these negative impact extends to affect even the community and organization.
